Amble Skuse (Sound and Tech Artist – UK / France) and Bosko Begovic (Martial Artist and Movement Artist – Serbia / Spain) are a performance duo, focussing on task based movement performances usings the body as a controller for sound and video.
The initial work explores how AI can be used to analyse videos of movement, referencing tiktok trends and the potential wealth of body movement data being collected and analysed through the app.
Phase 1
The participants wear body sensors and move in front of a camera. The sensors then send movement data to a jitter patch which processes the video of them in real time, pixelating it and changing the colour palette. The participants can try to work out which movements control the different processes on the video, or just enjoy playing with the image. The processed video is shown on the first screen (left). This fun game then moves onto the second screen (right) where an AI plug-in is watching the first video and identifying human bodies, faces and movement direction. The participant then has a range of options, they can play with the AI, finding ways to position themselves in front of the camera in order to make it possible for the AI to identify them, or they can engage in trying to prevent the AI from recognising them as a body, a face and movement.
